After the worship service on Aug 30, Jo Emerson, who leads AWANA, will be in room 4. You can meet Jo, ask her questions, and pick up your child's handbook. You can also call the office (641.648.3305) to arrange another time to get handbooks.

Registration is $25/child, with a $50 family maximum. Checks can be made out to IF E Free Church, with "AWANA" in the memo line. You can bring payment on Aug 30 or mail to: IFEFC, PO Box 66 Iowa Falls, IA 50126

We don't want the registration cost to prohibit any child from being part of AWANA. Scholarships are available, if needed. Please let us know if you need one.

IFEFC AWANA Behavior Policy 2026-27

We will share all this with the kids at the beginning of the semester:

• Disrespect (of any sort deemed by a leader) will cause a student to be removed from the group and spend time sitting with a leader (~5 minutes) outside of council-time/class.

• If the student will not comply, or exhibits disrespectful behavior a second time, a leader will call their parents and ask them to pick up their child immediately.

• Should this happen consistently, we will ask a parent to join their child at AWANA, to help them focus and obey.

Here’s why our policy is in place….

Why:

Disrespect separates kids from their leaders, their classmates, and Christ.

• Our youth programs are fueled by the commitment of volunteers. Anti-authority attitudes are tiresome to deal with and can easily burn people out. While we are thankful for the gospel grit volunteers show when facing tough situations, we do not want to take advantage of them by letting disrespectful behavior go unchecked. We hope to keep leaders around so our AWANA program can continue for many years!

• Disrespect distracts other kids from hearing the gospel. When kids disobey leaders, they turn attention to themselves. It produces an environment which is chaotic and uninviting for students who want to learn and grow in community. Disrespect destroys the sort of community we hope to build.

• Finally, disrespect for people produces disrespect for Jesus. We all need the authority of Jesus in our hearts and over our desires. But, this does not come easily - we are born rebels. That’s why sometimes discipleship involves loving discipline.

We care a lot for all of our kids, and our mission is to disciple them as best as we can! Our commitment is to be patient and caring towards every person. And, the disrespect of some is distracting others from hearing the gospel and growing in Christ. Therefore, we have set a precedent so that the whole group can have a more positive experience.

I acknowledge that participation in the activity described above involves risk to the participant (and to the participant’s parents or guardians, if the participant is a minor), and may result in various types of injury including, but not limited to, the following: sickness, exposure to infectious/communicable disease, bodily injury, death, emotional injury, personal injury, property damage, and financial damage. In consideration for the opportunity to participate in the activity described above (the “activity”), the participant (or parent/guardian if the participant is a minor) acknowledges and accepts the risks of injury associated with participation in and transportation to and from the activity. The participant (or parent/guardian) accepts personal financial responsibility for any injury or other loss sustained during the activity or during transportation to and from the activity, as well as for any medical treatment rendered to the participant that is authorized by the sponsor or its agents, employees, volunteers, or any other representatives (collectively referred to as the “activity sponsor”). Further, the participant (or parent/guardian) releases and promises to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the activity sponsor for any injury arising directly or indirectly out of the described activity or transportation to and from the activity, whether such injury arises out of the negligence of the activity sponsor, the participant, or otherwise. If a dispute over this agreement or any claim for damages arises, the participant (or parent/guardian) agrees to resolve the matter through a mutually acceptable alternative dispute resolution process. If the participant (or parent/guardian) and the activity sponsor cannot agree upon such a process, the dispute will be submitted to a three-member arbitration panel for resolution in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
